Thermodynamics
Steam engines, refrigerators and the human body all trade heat for work. Chapter 11, Thermodynamics, of the NCERT Physics textbook for Class 11 states the rules of that trade. You will study thermal equilibrium with the zeroth law, the first law as energy conservation, and isothermal, adiabatic, isochoric and isobaric processes with work done. Heat engines with efficiency, refrigerators with coefficient of performance, and the Carnot cycle with the second law show the limits nature sets on machines.
