Oscillations
A swing, a clock pendulum and a vibrating string all repeat their motion. Chapter 13, Oscillations, of the NCERT Physics textbook for Class 11 studies that repetition. You will describe periodic and oscillatory motion, define simple harmonic motion through its displacement, velocity and acceleration relations, and find the time periods of a spring mass system and a simple pendulum. Energy in simple harmonic motion, oscillating between kinetic and potential forms, is calculated, with phase and frequency given precise meaning.
