Changing Families
NCERT Looking Around, Class 4, Chapter 9 looks at how families grow and change over time. Through family trees and everyday examples it shows births, marriages, members moving away for work, and grandparents growing old. Children compare their own family with those of friends, notice nuclear and joint households, and record who does which work at home. The chapter builds the ideas of relationships, care between generations, and how love, support, and shared responsibility hold a changing family together.
