Going to School
This opening chapter from NCERT Looking Around, Class 4, Chapter 1 shows how children across India travel to school each morning. Some walk along village paths, others cross rivers by boat, ride bullock carts, bicycles, buses, trains, cable cars, or the camel carts of the desert. By mapping routes and travel time, children compare distances, transport, and seasons. The chapter builds respect for different lives and landscapes and the shared effort every child makes to reach school.
