Electromagnetic Waves
NCERT Class 12 Physics, Part I, Chapter 8 traces Maxwell's prediction from the idea of displacement current, which completes Ampere's law where electric fields change with time. The chapter derives the transverse nature of electromagnetic waves and their speed in free space from the constants of electricity and magnetism. It then surveys the electromagnetic spectrum from radio waves to gamma rays, noting the uses of each band in communication, heating, imaging and medicine, and closes with the fact that light itself is an electromagnetic wave.
