Polynomials
Expressions built from variables and whole-number powers appear everywhere from areas to projectile paths. Chapter 2, Polynomials, of the NCERT Mathematics textbook for Class 9 studies polynomials in one variable: their degrees, coefficients and zeroes. You will evaluate them, divide them to obtain the remainder theorem, use the factor theorem to test and construct factors, and factorise quadratics and simple cubics. Algebraic identities are proved and applied, linking expansion and factorisation as inverse skills.
