Coordinate Geometry
Locating a seat in a cinema hall needs a row and a column, and locating a point needs the same idea. Chapter 3, Coordinate Geometry, of the NCERT Mathematics textbook for Class 9 introduces the Cartesian plane of perpendicular axes. You will name the quadrants, plot points from ordered pairs, read coordinates from a diagram, and describe shapes placed on graph paper. This marriage of algebra and geometry prepares the ground for graphs of equations and for the distance and section ideas of higher classes.
