Locating Places on the Earth
Chapter 1 of the Class 6 NCERT social science textbook, Exploring Society: India and Beyond, teaches learners to find any place on earth with confidence. Starting from directions and the school neighbourhood, it introduces globes, maps and their symbols, scale and cardinal points. Learners then meet latitudes and longitudes, the Equator and Prime Meridian, and practise locating India and their own state on grid maps, discovering how drawings of the round earth guide travellers, pilots and sailors.
