Particulate Nature of Matter
This chapter of the Class 8 NCERT Curiosity textbook reveals that all matter hides crowds of restless particles. Diffusion of scent, dissolving of sugar and spreading of ink show particles moving and mixing on their own, while solids, liquids and gases are explained by differences in packing and attraction. Heating, cooling, melting, boiling and condensation become stories of particles gaining or losing energy. Simple activities with water, air and common solids make the invisible architecture of matter vivid and convincing.
