Tales by Dots and Lines
A picture of paired values can reveal a trend that a table hides. Chapter 13, Introduction to Graphs, of the NCERT Mathematics textbook for Class 8 opens the Cartesian plane with its axes, quadrants and coordinates. You will plot points, draw the graphs of direct proportions and of simple linear relations, and read values back from a graph. Examples from distance-time stories and temperature records show how dots joined into lines tell what is happening and what may happen next.
