Rational Numbers
Between any two fractions there lies another, so the number line is far more crowded than it first appears. Chapter 9, Rational Numbers, of the NCERT Mathematics textbook for Class 7 introduces numbers that can be written as one integer divided by another. You will represent rationals on the number line, compare them using equivalent forms, and perform all four operations on them. Properties such as closure and commutativity are checked afresh, since division by zero stays forbidden and some familiar rules change shape.
