Finding Common Ground
Sharing a cake equally or measuring cloth to the nearest centimetre both need numbers beyond whole numbers. Chapter 2, Fractions and Decimals, of the NCERT Mathematics textbook for Class 7 shows how fractions and decimals represent parts of a whole and how to move fluently between the two forms. You will compare and order them, practise all four operations on them, and place them correctly on the number line. The chapter closes with word problems from shopping, cooking and measurement that make the methods stick.
