Statistics
Your child will summarise whole schools of data in three averages and read the trends boards reward. Statistics usually brings about six marks, frequently a mean by the assumed-mean route plus a median or mode question. The chapter groups raw marks into classes, computes the mean by direct, assumed-mean and step-deviation routes, locates the median and modal classes for the remaining averages, builds cumulative frequency tables, and draws ogives to read the median graphically. Production, health and transport examples keep the tables realistic. Three confusions appear. Learners apply the mode
